Description
Number matching is a very important numeracy skill whereby children count and match. This helps children develop a strong foundation in numeracy; including counting, number recognition, and understanding quantities.
It encourages critical thinking as children analyze and categorize objects based on their numerical value.
Understanding the correspondence between a number and its physical representation ís an important skill for the base of Mathematical concepts.
Adding in the puzzle aspect allows children to problem solve fitting the pieces of the number puzzle together making sure they’re in the right place and with their corresponding pieces
How to Wonder & Bloom
Place your Bloom Board in front of you in an open space where you can spread out all your number puzzle pieces.
Start with 0 (zero) and place the tile with the number ‘0’ into the space on your board. Now find the number name (word) ‘zero’ and place it next to the number. Lastly find the tile with zero dots on it and place it next to the word. You have now solved your number puzzle for zero! Use your whiteboard marker to copy your creation on the line provided on the perspex.
Once you have done that, wipe off your writing with a cloth/tissue/duster, and simply tip the board over to remove the pieces. Repeat the above step with the number 1 (one) and then 2 (two) and so on.
