Description
Multiplication is often a stepping stone to understanding more complex mathematical concepts like fractions, algebra, statistics, and probability, which are essential parts of a child’s education.
Knowledge of times tables not only increases children’s confidence in mathematical equations, but it is crucial for a solid foundation and allows for quick mental calculations and better understanding of more advanced concepts like fractions and division.
Memorising times tables makes it far quicker for children to work out mental math problems in their heads. Moving beyond using their fingers to work out answers, they’ll be able to use their knowledge to quickly solve any multiplication questions.
How to Wonder & Bloom
Practice your times tables by multiplying the numbers at the top, by the numbers down the left hand side of the board and writing the answers with your whiteboard marker in the block.
Other ideas:
*fill in your whole board with the correct numbers. Ask an adult to write some multiplication sums down for you.
Use your Bloom Board to help you write the answers to the sums.
*Challenge yourself and place your finger randomly on your Bloom Board. Read out the sum and write the answer in the block.
